THEVA is a specialist for high temperature superconductor (HTS) materials and physical vapour deposition technology. The company was established in 1996 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Munich and commercialized
superconductor coatings for electronics, sensors and medical technology.
For more than a decade profits of the business have been invested to develop a proprietary, cost-efficient manufacturing technique for HTS coated conductor tape. THEVA uses a consistent and cost-effective tape coating technology protected by a broad patent portfolio.
Nowadays, THEVA is the first German 2G HTS wire supplier. Within the European EcoSwing consortium, THEVA enabled the world's first, full-size superconducting wind turbine generator (3.6 MW).
